  • photograph
  • bar code
  • price
  • date line

1. Early Magazine Covers
had no photos, just drawings or paintings. big bold areas of colors , typically no date line or price or bar code. just simple. topics were tended to be church related, good and evil.
small headlines..

2. Poster cover
Big picture, one set of headline that is about the picture, that the words are small so you can see the subject (picture) Disadvantages : just want to see the pictures , have to have really good pictures to get attention.

3. Picture Marred to type
Pictures marred to Type magazines have less words, and most of the words are located on one side of the magazine. The texts relates to the picture. The texts are inside the photo. You can see the picture more than the words, Disadvantages is that it might seem boring to the reader not as many entry points(places where the viewer can go to see more things.
The words go together with the picture.
4. In the Forest of Words:
Lots of words. Different fonts, colors, words, and style. and all over the place around the picture.  Attracts the words instead of the picture, makes the words stand out more than the picture . disadvantages of the words is that sometimes its distracting and you can see the full photograph. Go to the side and around
